That setting I change is this: from the Toolbar > R click on the Audio icopn > select 'Playback devices' > Properties (for the headphones in question) > Enhancements >

I played with the settings for Audio in Win 7 and found that I can get some of the "missing sounds" reproduced in the headphones, but at an intensity not even close to what it should be (like on the working headphones). I tried using the USB headphones on a different Win 7 machine, on a Windows XP machine and the sound is still bad.
